Information about tryouts for 2020-2021:
After long consideration and speaking with other cheer coaches from around our SWOC, we will be going with Plan B for tryouts.

Plan B- 
We do not go back to school and tryouts will be in a virtual format. ONLINE FORMS ARE STILL DUE MAY 4! We will collect the emergency medical forms and physical forms when actual practice begins. 
A Parent/cheerleader meeting will be done on online on May 4th.  We will send the video to those that have completed their online forms.  You will be able to email us with questions after you have viewed the video.  The video will explain how the virtual tryout will be conducted.


Requirements for junior school will be: chants, fight song (be prepared to say the words!), toe touch, 2 jump sequence, and tumbling.

Chants to know (for plan A or B) are:
o Lets Go Cats
o Go Big Green Lets go
o Green Black Lets Go Cats


Since there will be no numbers, those who make squads will be posted with their names on our website.

Parent and candidate meeting
When: Monday, May 4th (emailed to those that have completed their forms)
 
ONLINE forms due May 4. See the links below for the Handbook and Online Forms.
 
Tryouts will be:

May 5th and 6th and the videos due by May 6th at 9:30pm.

 

 

William Henry Harrison Cheerleading Try-outs for 2020/2021 school year

Plan A- We return to school on May 1st and hold try-outs as they have been    

               planned. Week of May 4th-8th

Plan B- We do not return to school this year. Cheer try-outs will be held

              virtually. A recorded meeting will be emailed to those that have completed their                        online forms by May 4 at 6pm. Any other questions or

              concerns please contact Jamie Johnson (high school) or

               Molly Hasenohr (junior high). 

**FOR INFORMATION REGARDING JUNIOR SCHOOL CHEERLEADING, PLEASE VIEW HERE!

YOU MUST:

  •         Have all online paperwork completed by May 4th at 6pm
  •         We understand that since doctors’ offices have been closed that some may not have up to date physicals. If this is you, then we will need them as soon as we go back to “normal.”

Cheerleading Try-Outs
May 5th and 6th - Video must be submitted by 9pm on May 6th.

 

Mandatory parent meeting
•When: Monday, May 4th
•Where: HS Media Center
•Time: 5:30 to have assistance with NEW online forms. 6:00pm will start the parent informational meeting.
•Online form link can be found at: (forms will be opened on Monday, March 2nd.)
 
 
Jump workouts - You can find several different types of jump workouts by clicking the link in blue. These will help improve cheerleaders jumps.
 
Couch to 5k - Running plan to get your endurance up for running.
 
***We will be holding open gyms every Wednesday during April in the high school old gym 3-4*
***You must have a Emergency Medical form and for high school a stunting and tumbling waiver (found in the handbook) to participate in open gyms.)

Cheerleading Try-Outs

2019-2020 SEASONS

OPEN GYM TIMES

When: Wednesdays in April from 3-4pm

Where: Harrison High School cafeteria

What to bring: MUST have Emergency Medical Authorization Form Print a copy here

 


 

MANDATORY Parent and Cheerleader Meeting

When: Monday, May 6th

Where: Harrison High School Media Center

What to bring: 1 Emergency Medical Authorization Form (Print EMA here), Physical Form signed by doctor (Physical Form here), school issued computer

Time: Doors open at 5:30 to assist with NEW online forms

           6:00pm mandatory meeting starts

**A PARENT and CHEERLEADER must be at this meeting in order to try out.  Please email Coach Johnson (jamie.johnson@southwestschools.org ) in advance of the meeting if you have questions about tryouts**

Absence policy - 2 per season (Fall season includes summer practices and camp)

Cheer uniform - Must be washed and AIR dried.  DO NOT PUT IT IN THE DRYER! On loan from the cheer team.  It must be returned exactly as it was given to you.  A fine will be given if the uniform is not in the same condition.

Cheer bag - On loan from the cheer team.  It must be returned exactly as it was given to you.  A fine will be given if the bag is not in the same condition.

Cheer warm up- On loan from the cheer team. It must be returned exactly as it was given to you. A fine will be given if the warm up is not in the same condition.

Harrison Cheer Classic - If you need to change a position with someone, you must fill out the Worker Trade form below and return it to you coach at least 1 week in advance of the competition. 

FORMS-This year all forms will be online except for the 2 emergency medical forms and physical form that you will need to hand in at the parent meeting prior to try-outs.
