WHHHS Update

Posted on: November 9, 2023
Update

We are almost to the halfway point of the second quarter!  We have had a great short week of school, with lots of excitement around our fall signing day, our Class of 2028 Open House and our annual Veterans’ Day Assembly; there is also even more excitement as our football team continues to chase school history as they take on Anderson tomorrow night at Lakota East, our winter sports are gaining momentum as their regular seasons approach, and our Drama Club is running their dress rehearsals for next weekend’s production of “Mary Poppins.”

Please see below for some important information and updates.

Senior Portraits – Thurs 11/30 & Fri 12/1
Executive Studio will be back at Harrison High School for any senior who still needs their portrait taken for the Yearbook on Thurs 11/30 and Fri 12/1 (if necessary).  Seniors can schedule appointments by calling Executive Studio at 513-241-4959 Mon – Fri between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. To appear in the senior portrait section of the yearbook and on the Class of 2024 composite, you must have a session with Executive Ritchie. There is a $25 sitting fee, but no additional purchase is necessary.

If you are unable to make an appointment for one of those two days and still need to have a session, you can also visit their Longworth Hall studio in Cincinnati.

All portraits should be taken by Friday, December 15.  Please email jane.hinterlong@southwestschools.org with any questions.

Senior Reminder – Cap & Gown Order Deadline Approaching
This is just a reminder to families of Class of 2024 graduates that the last day to order a cap & gown without paying a $20.00 late fee is Monday, December 4.  To order, please visit www.graduateserviceinc.com or reach out to Graduate Services at 513-272-5890.  We also have some order packets still available in the Main Office.

Any student that is interested in participating in the State of Ohio’s College Credit Plus needs to attend the Information Session with a parent/guardian on December 7th at 6:00 PM in the Activity Center auditorium.  If you are unable to attend, you will need to schedule a meeting with your student’s guidance counselor during school hours.

AP Parent Night
Are you interested in having your child take an AP class, but not sure what Advanced Placement (AP) is all about?  Please attend our AP Parent meeting during our next conference night on December 7th at 7:00 PM in the Activity Center auditorium.  Please contact Steve Barnes at 513-728-8430 with any questions.

Junior/Senior College Visits
Any junior or senior interested in meeting with college representatives can sign up on Naviance. This is a great way to learn about colleges and if they are a good fit. We will have a variety of colleges visit Harrison High School throughout the school year.

Seniors received instruction on how to complete transcript requests in Naviance on Thursday, August 31st during Advisory.  The slide show is available for viewing on both the Guidance page of the school’s website and on the Class of 2024 Teams page. Students at Diamond Oaks/Scarlet Oaks will be receiving the same instruction during their individual meetings when their Harrison counselor visits the Oaks buildings over the next few weeks.

Junior ACT
Any junior that has completed Algebra 2 and is college bound is encouraged to take the 12/9/23 ACT.  Students can register at The ACT Ohio.

Naviance has free test preparation that all students have access to on their Naviance account.   **Juniors do NOT have to sign up for the state sponsored test that is given during school at the end of February.  It is recommended, however, that students take the ACT at least twice to earn their optimal score.  Students/parents do have to register on their own for that 2nd test that is not school sponsored.
