Update

We have reached the end of our last full week of school and we are looking forward to a strong finish to the school year on Tuesday and Wednesday while we celebrate our Class of 2023 at Graduation on Wednesday night!

Please see the updates and reminders below as we wrap up the 2022-2023 school year and look to the 2023-2024 school year!

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
Our summer office hours will be 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (closed 11:30 – 12:30 for lunch), and after mid-June, we advise calling before you come to school as there may be a day or two the office is closed due to vacation schedules.  We will post days on which the office will closed on the doors as far in advance as possible.

LAPTOP TURN-IN
Students in Grades 9-11 will turn in their laptops on Wednesday, May 31 (all laptops should be out of their cases, all stickers should be removed, and the charger should be turned in with the laptop).  All students will be asked to turn in their laptops at this time, except for Mr. Deak’s AP Government students still working on Financial Literacy in Edgenuity (those laptops are due Friday 6/9).  Students who will need a laptop for summer school will be issued a different device at the start of summer school on Monday 6/12.  Any student not in attendance on Wednesday, May 31 should turn in their laptop to the office as soon as possible.  As mentioned above, the office is open Mon – Fri 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (closed 11:30 – 12:30 for lunch) during the summer and after mid-June, we advise calling before you come to school as there may be a day or two the office is closed due to vacation schedules.

SCHEDULES FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
Students in Grades 9-11 received their class schedules for next year on Monday, May 8.  Students will have until June 1 to request a change to their schedule for next year, so please take time to review the schedule with your student.  Please note that any requests for a schedule change must be submitted to your student’s counselor in writing via email or via Microsoft Teams chat.

CLASS OF 2024 – MENINGOCOCCAL VACCINATION INFORMATION
All students entering grades 7 and 12 will be required to be vaccinated against the meningococcal disease. One dose of meningococcal vaccine is required prior to entry into the 7th grade. A second dose of meningococcal vaccine is required prior to entry into the 12th grade. The second dose must be administered on or after the 16th birthday, with at least 8 weeks between the first and second dose. If the first dose of meningococcal was administered after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required. If a pupil is in the 12th grade and is 15 years of age or younger, only one dose is required.

A written verification, in the form of a note, fax or email, is required from your family physician or the Hamilton County Health Department. Members of the senior class who have not provided proper verification of a second dose of meningococcal vaccine may be excluded from school and subject to disciplinary measures for non-attendance. Thank you for your proactive approach in addressing this issue. Seniors are required to show written proof of the vaccination no later than September 5, 2023. Failure to do so may result in being excluded from all classes and all school activities.

Our hope is to keep our students and parents informed well in advanced of areas of concern. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Hamilton County Health Department (513-946-7882) or Harrison High School (513-367-4169). All documentation and forms may be emailed to the school nurse at Tessa.Freel@southwestschools.org or faxed to the high school at 513-367-7251. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Hamilton County Health Department (513-946-7882) or Harrison High School (513-367-4169).

END-OF-YEAR MEDICATION PICK-UP
Any medication that you have had in the Nurse’s Office for your student this year should be picked up no later than the end of the last day of school (Weds 5/31).  We will dispose of any medication left in the Nurse’s Office left after the end of school on Wednesday 5/31.  Please note that we will require a new set of paperwork to keep medicine in the Nurse’s Office at the start of each school year as students are not permitted to carry medication of any type on their person at school.
