Update

The beginning of a new school year is coming up fast! We have been busy planning for the return of our students in August. Construction at the high school is moving steadily along and is on track to be complete by the beginning of school. Inside the building we will have new science labs and restrooms, and renovations of the locker rooms.  Outside they are nearing completion of the new roundabout and turn lanes.  We are incredibly excited to have students back in the building and are excited to start the new school year!

There are several very important items that we want to share with families, so please take a moment to read the information below:

New School Start Date & New School Hours

For the upcoming school year, students will begin on August 17th.  Please make the changes on your school calendar.  In addition, there has been an update to our school day.  Our doors will open for students starting at 7:00 A.M. each day.  Our official school hours are 8:05 – 2:55.

Camp Wildcat for Incoming Freshmen

Freshmen will be coming to Camp Wildcat on August 11th from 9am until 2pm (Lunch is provided). Camp Wildcat will be a great opportunity to get to know the building, get introduced to some of our staff and learn how to make your first year in high school successful. Camp Wildcat will be considered a school day for all Freshmen.  Freshmen will report to school on the first day for all students (August 17th) but will receive a day off in February while our Juniors will be taking the ACT Test. On August 11th, Freshmen will be dropped off at the Activity Center and the day will begin in the auditorium at 9am. More information about Camp Wildcat will be sent out during the first week of August. Freshmen will also receive their laptops and schedules on the 11th.

Schedule and Laptop Distribution for Upperclassmen

Laptops and schedules will be handed out to Upperclassmen on August 12th in the cafeteria from 8am to 6pm.

All students received their schedule for the new school year before they left for summer break. We always anticipate a few changes for some students based on changes during the summer. On August 12th the building will be open from 8am until 6pm, so upperclassmen can pick up a fresh schedule and laptop. Students will have the opportunity to walk the halls and find their classes for the new school year.

Harrison High School would like to welcome new educators to our staff:

Mrs. Katie Swartz – Art
Mrs. Devin Wilhelm – Intervention Specialist
Mr. Josh Locke – Math
Mrs. Racheal Mallicote – Science

Senior Parking Spots
Seniors, if you are interested purchasing a parking space, you will be able to buy your spot the first two weeks of school. The price of a spot will be $50. Seniors will be responsible for purchasing paint for their space and must have their artwork approved before painting begins. Those seniors that purchased a parking space last year will have first pick of spaces. We will let you know when painting of spaces can take place. If you have any questions, please contact Chris Baird at Chris.baird@southwestschools.org

Traffic Patterns
With construction of the new roundabout and additional turn lanes, we are working on traffic patterns and student pick up. We will be sending more information and guidance out at the beginning of August. Thank you for being patient as we plan for traffic and student safety.

Harrison Junior/Senior High School PTO (Academic and Social Growth)

One of the best ways for parents to remain involved with their children is our PTO.  We are excited to welcome our families into this organization.  Details on an event being planned by the PTO on August 5 can be found HERE.

As always, we remain thrilled to welcome our families back to school!  If you have questions, please call our office at 513-367-4169 or email me directly at Matthew.lindley@southwestschools.org

Please continue to enjoy your summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone in August!
