WHHHS Update

Posted on: March 10, 2021

WHHHS Parents and Students,

As it starts to warm up outside and we head into 4th quarter, we are looking for a strong finish for all of our students, especially our seniors. As we plan for the end of the year, we are looking at prom, concerts, academic awards and graduation. We are so happy that we can move forward with all these great events. Please understand that we must remain vigilant with our COVID protocols and that these plans are tentative. Below is information and dates on some of our upcoming events. I would like to once again thank all of our parents for their support, kindness and understanding as we look to the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

Remote day March 11th

Thursday, March 11th will be a Remote Learning Day for all students. On Thursday, our staff will be receiving their 2nd COVID vaccine shot.  On the Thursday, March 11th,your child will log on during their class times listed HERE. Thank you so much for your continued support.

EOC Testing begins April 6th

End of Course testing for sophomores will begin on Tuesday April 6th and will continue through May 7th. The EOC’s are required tests given by the State of Ohio that will help determine graduation for each student. On April 6th we will start with English and then on April 20th we will continue with Math, Science and Social Studies.  Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep and a good breakfast before testing. A more detailed testing schedule will be provided for everyone in the near future.

Senior and Junior Prom May 1st

Our Senior and Junior prom will take place on Saturday, May 1st in the Wildcat Sports Arena at the Activity Center. We are currently looking at our capacity due to COVID regulations. We do believe that we will be able to have approximately 600 students in the gym during prom. Juniors and Seniors will be allowed to invite dates, with the understanding of our capacity limit.  Due to this limit, we will sell tickets in two rounds.  During the first round, Seniors will be able to purchase tickets for themselves and their dates.  In the second round, Juniors will be able to purchase tickets for themselves and their dates, with the understanding that ticket sales will be cut off once we reach our capacity limit.  Based on State guidelines, students will be required to wear masks throughout the dance.  We will provide individually wrapped snacks and drinks, but will be unable to serve a meal. Based on the length of the dance, we will not be putting on an After Prom event, but will be holding a raffle for prizes at the end of the evening. Our Prom Committee will be meeting this week to put all the details together such as times, theme, and price of tickets.  As we get closer, we will put out more information so everyone will be informed.

Graduation May 28th

Commencement for the Class of 2021 will take place on Friday, May 28th in the Wildcat Sports Arena at the Activity Center. We are dividing the class into two ceremonies.  ALL graduates should report to the Activity Center at 5:30 PM.  Students with last names A-L will graduate in the 6:00 PM ceremony, and students with last names M-Z will graduate in the 7:30 PM ceremony.  Graduates will attend BOTH ceremonies, but will receive their actual diploma during the ceremony for their half of the alphabet.  Families will be given tickets for the ceremony for their student’s half of the alphabet.  The number of tickets allotted for each graduate will be communicated as we get closer, and will be based on then-current capacity guidelines.  The ceremony will also be live streamed in the Auditorium for those who do not have a ticket for the Gymnasium.  Based on State guidelines, all graduates and spectators will be required to wear masks, and families must maintain 6’ social distance from other families in the bleachers.  As we get closer, we will put out more information so everyone will be informed.
