Parents of Seniors - Important Information
Parents of Seniors:
It’s hard to believe, but your seniors have embarked upon the last semester of their high school career! The next few months will fly by, and they will be sporting their cap and gown in no time!
On Friday, January 4, we met with the senior class to give them lots of important information regarding their final semester. We wanted to share these details with you as well. Click the titles below to view these documents:
- Final Semester Senior Planner: This document contains many important dates and deadlines for the second semester, as well as the schedule for senior final exams and the criteria for exemption.
- Senior Experience Day: On Wednesday, February 20, seniors will have the opportunity to spend the day performing community service, visiting a college or university, meeting with a military recruiter or taking the ASVAB test, or shadowing on a job site. The attached form will serve as verification of your whereabouts for attendance purposes on this day.
Finally, we wanted you to be aware of some graduation modifications for the Class of 2019. Governor Kasich signed Sub. HB 491., requiring students to fulfill TWO options from this list:
- Attendance rate of 93 percent during the 12th grade year;
- Earn a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in all courses completed during 12th grade (must complete at least four full-year courses);
- Complete a capstone project during 12th grade that the district or school defines;
- During 12th grade, complete a work or community service experience totaling 120 hours that the district or school defines;
- Earn three or more College Credit Plus credits at any time during high school;
- Earn credit for an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course and earn an AP exam score of 3 or higher or IB exam score of 4 or higher at any time during high school;
- Earn a WorkKeys exam score of 3 on each of three test sections;
- Earn a State Board-approved industry-recognized credential or credentials that equal at least three points;
- Meet OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal requirements.
Please note that the additional two options for the graduation modifications approved by Governor Kasich apply only to seniors who have not yet satisfied the End of Course (EOC) testing requirements for graduation. If students have already earned their 18 points and are on track to earn all of their course credits, they do not need to complete these alternate options.
