HHS Earns Duke Energy School of the Week Honors

Posted on: October 7, 2018
School of the Week

On the heels of a groundbreaking "Acceptance Week" organized by sophomore Raileigh Legner, Harrison High School was honored as the Duke Energy School of the Week.  A check for $1,000 was presented live on Local 12's "Good Morning Cincinnati" newscast on October 4.

"Acceptance Week" was Legner's brainchild; an independent study project for her DECA business class, inspired by her dedication to Harrison's Special Olympians.  Various theme days brought the student body together, highlighting the fact that while all students have their differences, they are all equal as human beings.  The week culminated at the Friday night football game, where students wore yellow Acceptance Week t-shirts and participated in a yellow balloon release.

Principal Matt Lindley was on hand to accept the check from Kim Vogelgesang, flanked by Legner, Local 12's Perry Schaible, and many Harrison students and staff members.  The band capped off the news segment with the school fight song.  The money will be used to support Harrison's Special Olympians.
