Food Drive for "Not In Our Town" Mobile Food Pantry

Posted on: September 5, 2019
Not in Our Town

We believe it’s our job to care for one another.  That means stepping in to help our neighbor when they have a need.  Our second annual Day of Service is coming up on Saturday, September 14.  In advance of this community-wide event, we are holding a non-perishable food drive to benefit the “Not in Our Town” Mobile Food Pantry.

This food will go to support students with an extra food need on the weekend, specifically our youngest elementary students.

Our goal is to collect 50,000 food items district-wide from September 9-13.  The homeroom that collects the most items will receive a pizza party!

We are looking for the following items:

- Individual cans of spaghetti or ravioli (pop top cans only)

- Single serving Mac and Cheese (microwavable only)

- Pop Tarts

- Individual oatmeal packs

- Granola or breakfast bars

- Single serve peanuts

- Individual fruit or applesauce cups

- Peanut butter crackers

These specific items have been chosen as ideal items to be easy to pack, serve and prepare. Please stay as close to the listed items as possible.

SLSD students should bring in items with them to school.  Community members can drop off items in the front lobby of any SLSD building from now through September 13.  Additionally, items can be dropped off at the front door of Harrison Junior School on September 14 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon during the Day of Service.  Click HERE for the flyer that was sent home with students on September 6.

We appreciate your support and participation in supporting those in our Southwest family!
