Food & Clothing Drive Now Underway!

Posted on: December 6, 2021

Again this year, the Southwest Local School District is proud to partner with the Harrison Mayor’s Community Fund, This City His City, Christ’s Loving Hands, and JTM Food Group to provide for those in need in our community this holiday season.

The annual Food and Clothing Drive is now underway, running from December 6-10.  Donations are being accepted at each SLSD building, including the Activity Center.  Members of the general public can drop off donations in the building's front lobby. Students should bring items to their classrooms.

The drive seeks to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for those less fortunate throughout the Southwest Local School District community.  In addition, winter clothing items such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots are also being accepted.

Last year, over 27,000 food items were collected district-wide, and we look to surpass that number this year.  “This is our largest local community service project of the year,” says Mike Morris, SLSD’s Director of Communications.  “Our community has always been great at rallying around our neighbors in need, and we know this year will be no exception.”

Items will be distributed on Saturday, December 18 to families who pre-registered with the Harrison Mayor’s Community Fund. The distribution will take place from 9:00-11:00 AM at Harrison High School.  Excess items will be donated to area food pantries.
