ACT Test Preparation

Posted on: January 12, 2020
ACT

Parents of Juniors,

We would like to take a moment to remind you of the upcoming Junior ACT along with ways to prepare for the best possible outcome.  On February 25th, your child will, along with the rest of the Junior Class, take an ACT Free of Charge this one time only.  There will be other opportunities through the ACT registration site to take the test at a later date (which we recommend at least a second attempt), however, there is a monetary fee.  The ACT is the leading US college admissions test that measures what you learn in high school to determine your academic readiness for college.   We encourage ALL students, even if they don't see college in their immediate future, to take this test seriously and put forth their best effort.  This score will stay with them forever and we never know what life decisions we will make in the future.

How to prepare:

All Juniors have taken the Practice Test on their Naviance account in November.  Your child should be working on the areas of weakness that are identified in the Test Prep section of their Naviance account.  If your child is struggling to get to the Test Prep Portal, directions are listed below:

1)  Log into Naviance (link on school website under Student Resources)

2)  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Naviance Test Prep at the bottom-left of the page.

3)  The page that opens will share your child's predicted score and below that, areas/links to click on to practice the areas of weakness.

Additional Prep:

We have partnered in the past with Torch Prep (an ACT prep company) and they continue to offer services to our students at a cost.  A handful of our students have taken advantage of their program and have seen successful results increasing their score.  You can find more information on their website at:

If you have any further questions, please contact your child's counselor.
