MWE November News
Miami Whitewater Families -
Good afternoon! We have one more day of school until Thanksgiving Break begins. As you gather with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks, focus on the warmth and love that your children bring into your life. Soak in all the laughter, smiles, and stories this week. Wishing you a Thanksgiving full of joy and unforgettable moments!
We have a few event reminders and updates to share as November comes to a close. Please call us in the office if you have any questions or concerns!
Gaga Ball Pit - Our generous PTO is installing a Gaga Ball Pit on the playground! Gaga ball is played in a large fenced-in area. The pit is generally made from flat walls (usually in an octagon or hexagon) atop a flat surface. Gaga ball can be played with 2-15 players and has been celebrated for its social benefits and inclusive nature, welcoming players of all skill levels. The rules of Gaga Ball are simple. Players cannot kick the ball. It must be hit with the hands. Any player who is touched by the gaga ball, either directly or by a rebound off the wall is "out". If the gaga ball contacts a player's clothing below the waist, that player is eliminated. If the ball contacts the player above the waist, the player is still in. There will be a sign hung with the Gaga Ball pit rules since this game is new to several kids and adults at school.
We have a few "MWE Dad" volunteers to thank for our Gaga Ball Pit at MWE. Mr. Kevan Casey built the side panels for our pit and will be installing them within the next couple of weeks with Mr. Ricky Kathman. Mr. Craig Rouse & Mr. Rob Deller leveled out the grassy area where the pit will be installed. They also laid gravel, turf, and spread turf infill. We appreciate our volunteers and PTO for coordinating and covering the cost of our new Gaga Ball Pit!
Coastal Wilds - Coastal Wilds will be visiting MWE on December 10th! Coastal Wilds has over 35 diverse species of animals, including otters, two-toed sloths, red kangaroos, and many more. The Coastal Wilds group is devoted to providing enriching educational experiences that inspire a passion for wildlife conservation. During the assembly, our students will get hands-on and up-close encounters with the animal ambassadors. This is a FREE program for our school. Thanks to Mrs. Toni Ange for sharing this opportunity!
- Every student was given a permission slip to attend the Coastal Wilds program today. Please check your child's folder and back pack. There is also a copy attached HERE in case you need it.
- Every student who attends the assembly needs to return a completed permission slip. If your child does not return a signed permission slip by Dec. 9th, they will not go to see the animals. This is a strict Coastal Wilds policy.
- Presentations will be at 9:30 and 10:30, then followed by photos for students who bring $
- PM Kindergarten students are allowed to attend with a signed permission slip. Please send Mrs. Kober a Class Dojo message if you plan to bring your child to school for the morning show. We apologize for not having an afternoon assembly. Coastal Wilds is traveling here from Frankford, Delaware and is going to another school that afternoon.
- Teachers & staff members are NOT allowed to take video or pictures during the programs, so will not be able to post pictures on Class Dojo.
- Optional photo and merchandise is available to help to fund the Coastal Wilds program. More information about the pictures with animals and merchandise is in the permission slip. No purchase is required by our students.

Understanding Bullying - Bullying is defined as aggressive behavior that is intentional, involves an imbalance of power, and is repeated over time. It can take many forms, including physical, verbal, and social bullying. Recognizing and identifying bullying is critical because it allows us to address the issue effectively, support those affected, and create a safer school environment for everyone. Let’s work together to foster a culture of kindness and respect! #AcceptanceMonth #StopBullying
Inclement Weather - As winter approaches and the chances for winter weather increase, please make sure your contact information is current in Final Forms. If you are already getting emails, texts and phone calls from us via the School Messenger Mass Notification system, you should be all set to receive weather-related information. You can also check the District website (southwestschools.org) and the official District social media accounts for the most up-to-date, accurate information.
