Super Chat

The January edition of the "Super Chat" podcast is now online at www.southwestschools.org/podcast.

In this episode, Harrison Junior School teacher Cathie Carroll describes Computer Science Technology Day at the Ohio Statehouse, where she accompanied four 8th grade students who presented apps and other STEM projects they had created.  They had the opportunity to speak with state legislators regarding the importance of computer science and technology curriculum.  Students Niaomi Pierson, Brayden Wesley, Brooke Sebastian and Mitchell Wessel also join the podcast to share their experiences in Columbus.

High School students Emily Davis and Kennedy Ashley detail the Drunk Driving Awareness Week they organized as a project for HOSA.   It was a completely student-led effort, with the goal of raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving with high school students who are beginning to drive for the first time.

Finally, Superintendent John Hamstra provides the monthly update on the facilities project.  The project is on schedule and on budget, early site work is complete, and footers are expected to be poured in January.  Load bearing walls, including elevator shafts, will soon follow.  Be sure to check out southwestschools.org/facilities for the very latest.
