HJS Update

Update

It is the last full week of summer for our families, and many of you are already in full swing getting ready!  We wanted to share with our families some important information regarding the upcoming week as you prepare for the start of the school year.

Academic & Social Growth
Many of our families are busy getting their school supplies ready to go.  A friendly reminder that you can see the full list on our website.  Recently, a parent let us know that Walmart has them listed by individual teacher.  You can click on that link here: https://www.walmart.com/lists/back-to-school/classes/99060

As we prepare for Open House tomorrow, we want to remind our families that you can still sign up for Camp Junior Wildcat.  Currently, we have about 175 of our incoming 6th Graders signed up.  We would love to have that go over 200 for tomorrow.  The link to sign up is here:  https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/21180

For our incoming 6th Grade parents, we would love for you to join us at 5:30 and compete with some of your children in a Pep Assembly prior to Open House.

For our 7th and 8th Grade families, students will have a fresh copy of their schedule available for pickup starting at 5:30 tomorrow.  This schedule will have a copy of their locker number and locker combination.  Please allow yourself time if you want to pick up that new schedule prior to Open House at 6:00.

Finally, as parents start to finalize their plans for drop off and pick up, please refer to the following video about the process of student drop off.  This video was created at the start of last year, but the information remains the same.  The video is available here:  https://youtu.be/XjJmqQNKjCs  Don’t forget, the doors to the school open at 7:00.  This will allow us to have supervision of our students who are dropped off early.  The school day ends at 2:30. Please take a moment to remind your child about the importance of using the cross walk for safety.

Getting Involved
We will be sharing ways for families to get involved over the coming weeks and throughout the school year.  Right now, if you have a 7th or 8th Grade student they are still able to join Cross Country and Football during the fall season.  In addition, we will have several clubs that kick off during the first month of the school year.  We will share this information with parents during our bi-weekly emails and via social media.

For our families, you are encouraged to get involved by joining PTO.  They will be available and Open House to sign up your child.  Anyone who signs us at Open House or Prior to Open House will get a coupon for Lindsey’s Shaved Ice.  Lindsey’s will be set up in the bus lot between HJS and Miami Whitewater Elementary for families who want a cool treat following/during Open House.

As you complete your back to school shopping, no child’s wardrobe is complete without some Harrison Wildcat Gear.  The Den Spirit Shop will also be set up for families to purchase items in the Community Room during Open House too!

Building Tours
It has been awesome for our families and students to tour the buildings over the past few weeks.  Families are welcome to continue to do so throughout this week.  Our building will be closed this Friday as Harrison Police and Fire conduct a training exercise.

Thank You
As we prepare for the school year, we want to take a moment to say thank you to our families for entrusting us with your children.  We know how important they are!  We look forward to working with you over the course of the school year.
