HJS Update

Update

We hope each of your families are enjoying an awesome summer!  Our team is eagerly working this summer to get our school ready for your children as we return to school next month!  We wanted to take a few moments and reach out to our families and provide a few key summer updates to our families!

Our Mission
Our mission at Harrison Junior School continues the work of our elementary buildings of Academic and Social Growth for ALL students; everyday!  This is vital to their success as students and to our community as a whole.  We ask parents to echo this mission in your homes.  In addition, our Core Values remain the same of Trust, Respect, Ownership & Leadership.  As we start the school year, we will meet with each student and discuss what it looks like for a 6th Grader, a 7th Grader, and 8th Grader!  We thank you for supporting our mission and helping to teach your kids our core values!

Our Goals
Each year, I urge our families, students, teachers, and staff to set specific goals for success over the school year.  For families, this might look like grade expectations, your child getting involved in certain activities, time spent supporting others, etc….  For us as a school, we have goals for your children too.  We want to take a moment to share them with you:

  1. Students and Staff safety and wellness will remain our number 1 priority.
  2. Our students will grow 1.5 years Academically in our care.
  3. 100% of our students will be involved in an extra-curricular activity inside or outside of school.
  4. Student and Staff attendance will be at 97% attendance.
  5. We will treat our school with respect and care – daily.

These goals allow us as an organization to keep focused.  We appreciate your support in these goals.

Stopping in to Walk Your Schedule

Students have already stopped up to walk their schedules.  Each of you are welcome to do so. Schedules were distributed back in May, and if you may have misplaced the schedule, please call our office to ensure someone is here who can print you out a new copy.  In addition, the office is open daily, but there are a few days/hours we may be out of the building for meetings.  Please call 513-367-4831 if you want to ensure that someone is here.

Open House/Schedules/Lockers

Camp Junior Wildcat is scheduled for August 9th starting at 3:30 P.M.  Be on the lookout for signups in the coming week.  In addition, following Camp Junior Wildcat, we will host Open House for all families.  This year, families will travel their children’s schedule and be able to meet with their teachers.  In addition, students will be able to pick up new schedules that include their locker number and combination.  We anticipate LONG lines for this, so please allow extra time to get a new schedule if you desire.

Supply Lists – Teacher Welcome Letters
If you go out and about, you are starting to see the Back to School signs and sales listed around town.  Many families are starting to ask what students will “need” for the first day of school.  Click HERE for teacher letters that would typically be handed out at Open House.  On most of these, they include a supply list.  If they do not, students should plan to come in with something to write on, and something to write with.  In addition, students will be receiving their laptops on the first day of school.

Parent/Student Questions
If you have questions regarding the upcoming school year, please do not hesitate to simply respond to this email or call our office directly.  We will get back to you within 24 hours!  We are here to help!

Families, please enjoy the rest of your summer.  We can not wait for you to be back in the buildings next month!
