Facilities for the Future Open Aug. 1

Posted on: July 27, 2021
Facilities

On Sunday, August 1, the Southwest Local School District will cut the ribbon and officially open three new elementary schools and one new middle school.  The new facilities will provide a modern learning environment for students in grades pre-K through 8.  Combined with ongoing renovations at the existing high school, Southwest facilities are now ready for the educational needs of the 21st century.

Our “Facilities for the Future” project has been years in the making, and was planned and designed with parent, student, teacher and community involvement.  We are grateful to the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission for co-funding the project.  When students begin classes on August 17, they will enjoy an educational environment like nothing this community has seen, benefiting our students as they prepare to enter college, the military, or the workforce in the coming years.

The public is invited to these exciting celebrations.  We will hold four separate ceremonies, one at each new building.

The ceremony at Crosby Elementary (8382 New Haven Rd., Harrison, OH 45030) will begin at 12:00 PM.
Harrison Elementary (600 E. Broadway St., Harrison, OH 45030) will hold their celebration at 2:00 PM.
Miami Whitewater Elementary (9850 West Rd., Harrison, OH 45030) will open at 4:00 PM.
Harrison Junior School (9840 West Rd., Harrison, OH 45030) will conclude the day by cutting the ribbon at 6:00 PM.

Please note that due to on-going roundabout construction at the intersection of Dry Fork and West Road, attendees at Miami Whitewater Elementary and Harrison Junior School will want to take I-74 to Exit 1 (New Haven Rd.), to Carolina Trace Rd., to West Rd.
