Brains and Beauty Converge Over Breakfast

Posted on: August 4, 2019
Breakfast
Harrison Jr/Sr High School’s 1st Annual Brains and Beauty Breakfast that was held July 31st from 9:00 – 11:00. Four graduates from the PLTW Engineering and/or BioMed programs, and one local biomedical engineer spoke to thirteen of our young ladies interested in a STEM career.

JTM donated a breakfast of eggs, biscuits, and sausage gravy. After we ate, the speakers shared their stories explaining how they got where they are, who inspired them, and things they wish they knew in middle school and high school. The event wrapped up with a lively Q&A session and candid discussion about how to maintain balance while pursuing a career in a STEM field.

The event was organized by a new club, SWENext: Society of Women Engineers The Next Generation.
