SLSD Health Update

Posted on: February 6, 2021
COVID

As previously communicated, we will be having Remote Learning Days, for all grades, on Thursday, February 11 and Thursday, March 11 in order to allow our staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.  We are grateful to Mercy Health and the Harrison Fire and Police Departments for partnering with us to facilitate this process, and encouraged that the vast majority of our staff have elected to receive the vaccine.  Additional information will be forthcoming from your building principal on how these days will be structured.

With the number of positive student cases currently on the decline, clearing stations that students pass through upon arrival to school, will continue, but in an altered form, beginning this Monday, February 8.  Temperature checks will be more random than every student, every day.  Staff will still be on hand to ensure that students are wearing a mask and are using hand sanitizer.  Masks will be continue to be available if a student forgets theirs.  Parents have been doing a great job with health checks of their children before they leave the house each day, and we ask them to continue to assist us in this effort, just as they have been doing throughout the school year.

Finally, we will be keeping a close eye on the thermometer in the coming week, with the impending polar vortex.  Click HERE to review our Cold Weather Protocol.  We understand that parents are in a better position to secure care when given as much advance notice as possible.  We must also be mindful of the fact that the forecast can change.  As always, decisions on delays and cancellations will be made in the best interest of student safety.
