SLSD Health Update

Posted on: February 3, 2021
COVID

We are excited to learn that we have confirmed dates for our staff to receive the COVID-19 vaccination!  Shot 1 will take place on Thursday, February 11 and shot 2 will take place on Thursday, March 11.  We will be having Remote Learning Days, for all grades, on both of these dates.  More information will be forthcoming from your building principal on how these days will be structured.

With the number of positive student cases currently on the decline, clearing stations that students pass through upon arrival to school, will continue, but in an altered form, beginning on Monday, February 8.  Temperature checks will be more random than every student, every day.  Staff will still be on hand to ensure that students are wearing a mask and are using hand sanitizer.  Masks will be continue to be available if a student forgets theirs.  Parents have been doing a great job with health checks of their children before they leave the house each day, and we ask them to continue to assist us in this effort, just as they have been doing throughout the school year.  If cases were to trend upward once again, we reserve the right to reinstate the clearing stations in their original format.

Finally, we will be keeping a close eye on the thermometer next week, with the impending polar vortex.  Click HERE to review our Cold Weather Protocol.  We understand that parents are in a better position to secure care when given as much advance notice as possible.  We must also be mindful of the fact that the forecast can change.  As always, decisions on delays and cancellations will be made in the best interest of student safety.
