Looking at the Week Ahead...

Happy Fri-YAY Everybody,

Just a friendly reminder that there will not be school on Monday, May 19th for students due to the teachers and staff participating in Professional Development. School will resume on Tuesday, May 20th.

If you have not yet registered for Parent Square, please do so before the end of the school year. Next year all communications will be routed through this program.

Don’t forget you can follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Please make sure you are members of the correct sites. There were several “unofficial” sites created, and we are trying to inactivate them. We have been posting a lot of pictures of events happening at Harrison Elementary. Feel free to send them out to family and friends. This is a great way to keep up with events at school. We have attached a link to this email with all the Harrison Elementary social media accounts.

Follow us on Twitter@SLSDHarrisonEl

Like us on Facebook.com/HarrisonElementarySchool

The students are demonstrating our Four Core Values – Trust, Respect, Ownership and Leadership – throughout the day.

Have a great weekend!

Ron Mangus

Principal

Assistant Principal

Parent Survey

Please take a few minutes to complete the attached Parent Survey. This survey will provide you with a chance to praise all the good things that are happening at Harrison Elementary and a way to express where we can do better.

Elementary Survey: Click or copy the link below -https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSddTuOfOPwZbisBBetBADLxtOAZ2n80FLUwUjMf6D7r9-XWcA/viewform?usp=sharing

Parent Square

Parent Square has now been rolled out to families!  The implementation of Parent Square is a direct result of last year’s Parent Survey where families indicated their desire to eliminate multiple communication platforms and apps.  This will accomplish that request, allowing a single district-wide platform to be used for all communication.

You received an email from Parent Square with a link to register your account.  (You may need to check your Spam folder to find the email). Click the link in that email and follow the instructions to register your account.  You also received a separate email from the Southwest Local School District with more in-depth information about Parent Square, directions on setting up your account, and a video on how to use Parent Square.

Field Day – Thursday, May 22nd

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, weather permitting, the students in all-day kindergarten and grades first through fifth will be participating in Field Day.

Several of the Field Day events will involve water. We are asking that the students DO NOT wear white clothing on that day due to the possibility of items underneath being visible once the clothing becomes wet. Please send in an extra T-shirt or top and an extra pair of shoes. These items would be appreciated if the student wants to change after the activity. Thanks for your help and have a great summer.

9:30 – 11:15 – Grades 3-5

12:30 – 2:30 – All-day kindergarten, MD Unit, and grades 1-2

Looking for School Cooks

Southwest Local Schools is searching for several new cooks to add to our food service staff for the 2025-2026 school year.  Cook positions are only three hours each day from 10:00am-1:00pm or 10:30am-1:30pm.  If you are looking for a part-time position that allows you to interact with our students, become a part of our school community, or just add a bit of extra income to your household, this position may be for you!  Since the hours are during school, there is no need for baby-sitting before or after school or on non-school days as long as your students are in school for the full day.  These roles are also perfect for retirees just looking for something part-time to get out of the house.  If interested, or if you know anyone who may be interested, please consider applying at the following link:  https://www.applitrack.com/greatercincinnati/onlineapp/JobPostings/view.asp?FromAdmin=true&AppliTrackJobId=41261

PTO Planning Meeting

The students and staff would like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to the PTO for their help and support throughout this past school year. Information about the first meeting will be sent home once school begins.

You can now join PTO. Your small membership fee of $10 helps us provide services for the kids! This does not require you to volunteer or attend meetings. It is all up to you how much you would like to be involved. If you have any questions, please reach out to a board member.

Joining the PTO is not a huge commitment and often looks like 1-3 service hours a year with opportunities in the evenings, during the school day or can be as simple as signing up to send in cookies for an event.  Everyone doing a little adds up to a LOT for our kids.

If you would like to join the PTO please Click Here

Building Character

May is reviewing Quarter 4 Value of Leadership and Character Strengths:

Week 5/26: Humility-Humility is defined as, I let my accomplishments speak for themselves.

Bus Passes

Due to the number of children riding the bus this year, NO bus passes will be written for students wishing to go home with another student. Please plan for transportation once the students have arrived home. If bus situations change throughout the year, please complete a new bus route information sheet, and submit it to our office to be processed at the District Office.
