Looking at the Week Ahead

Posted on: October 13, 2023
Update

Wow – we have already completed our first quarter of the 2023-2024 school year. Just a friendly reminder that students will be off today through next Tuesday and staff on Monday and Tuesday. I hope everyone enjoys the great weather (minus possibly some rain) and does something fun with the entire family.

Don’t forget you can now follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Please make sure you are members of the correct sites. There were several “unofficial” sites created and we are trying to inactivate them. I have been posting a lot of pictures of events happening at Harrison Elementary. Feel free to send them out to family and friends. This is a great way to keep up on events at school.

We have had a great start to the new school year. The students are demonstrating our Four Core Values – Trust, Respect, Ownership and Leadership – throughout the day.

Have a great weekend!

Craft and Vendor Show – tomorrow October 14th

The Harrison Jr. Sr. High PTO is hosting its Fourth Annual Craft & Vendor Show this Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Admission is $1, and you get a free raffle ticket!  Please come and shop from over 100 crafters, and a few of your favorite vendors this Saturday!  The Band Boosters will be running the concessions, so come and shop, and have lunch!

Bullying Prevention Forum

Junior School administrators will be hosting a 3-part Bullying Prevention Forum beginning on Wednesday, October 18th at the Junior School. The goal is to engage all stakeholders (families, community partners, and the school) in a discussion on how we can bolster our preventative measures in this area. The first meeting takes place on October 18th at 6:30 pm in the Commons.

Building Character

October’s Character Traits:

Week of October 16th – Friendship – getting along well with others and your friends can count on you

Week of October 23rd – Intentional – I am thoughtful in working to improve myself and the world

Week of October 30th – Love – I value my close relationships with others

Please reinforce these weekly traits at home and throughout the month.

Calling all Bus Drivers

Southwest Local School District needs bus drivers. If you have driven a bus or have acquired a CDL in the past or think that it would be fun we will help you get certification and train you. Please call the district office and ask for Mr. Lohbeck at 513-367-4139. Due to the shortage of bus drivers, the district may need to randomly shut down routes for various weeks as early as Thanksgiving.

School Fees

Fees have now been posted to each of your students’ account. Elementary Fees this year are $70.

PTO Planning Meetings

PTO meetings this school year will take place on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria. The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 23rd.

You can now join PTO. Just your small membership fee of $10 helps us provide services for the kids! This does not require you to volunteer or attend meetings. It is all up to you how much you would like to be involved. If you have any questions, please reach out to a board member.

Joining the PTO is not a huge commitment and often looks like 1-3 service hours a year with opportunities in the evenings, during the school day or can be as simple as signing up to send in cookies for an event.  Everyone doing a little adds up to a LOT for our kids.
