Harrison Elementary Update

Posted on: May 18, 2023
Update

Just a reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow, Friday, May 19th so that the teachers and staff can attend some end of the year professional development meetings.

Thanks to all the students and families who brought in donations for the Southwest Local School District’s “Shower with Kindness” collections. We are tallying up the item numbers and the top three classrooms will receive a prize.

Next week, to get rid of the remaining boxes of World’s Finest Chocolates, we will be selling chocolate bars for 50 cents. Students will be allowed to come into the school office to purchase these bars while supplies last. We have roughly 10 boxes of mixed bars if any family would like to purchase a box for $30 (60 bars) please call the school office.

As we get closer to summer break, please remember to pay your child’s school fees. Those students whose fees are not paid by the end of the school year will not have their names posted on class lists in August. Numerous reminders have gone home. If you have any questions, please call the school office.

Our Lost and Found items are overflowing. Please remind your children to stop by and look at what has been collected. Items not claimed will once again be donated once school is out.

To help celebrate the end of the school year, a calendar was designed to highlight a special activity taking place on each of those remaining days. The activity is associated with one of the 26 letters of the alphabet. A copy of the calendar was sent home with each of the students, and I’ve attached a link to this calendar at the bottom of this email. Please encourage your child to join in with all the daily activities. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or the school office.

Don’t forget you can now follow us on Twitter and Facebook. Please make sure you are members of the correct sites. There were several “unofficial” sites created and we are trying to inactivate them. I have been posting a lot of pictures of events happening at Harrison Elementary. Feel free to send them out to family and friends. This is a great way to keep up on events in school.

Yearbooks

A small order, for this year’s school yearbooks, has been placed. There is a good chance that they will not arrive before we are out of school on May 31st. Once they arrive, the school office will call and let you know that they are here and when they can be picked up. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will be here in the next two weeks. As more information becomes available, I will keep you updated.

Field Day 2023

Next Friday will be our annual Field Day. Field day will take place from 9:30 – 11:30 for 3rd – 5th grades and 12:30 – 2:30 for 1st and 2nd grade students and all day kindergarten. There will be water activities taking place that students may wish to participate in. Students are encouraged to bring in another set of clothes to change into after Field Day so that they are not sitting for the remainder of the day in wet clothing. Dry shoes and socks are also encouraged. The PTO will be furnishing each student with a snow-cone while they are outside for Field Day

Summer Athletic and Gifted Camps

Contact information for each of the athletic clubs is also listed if you have questions. These are great opportunities to fill up some of the summertime off from school.

Progress Book

The Frontline ProgressBook Parent & Student Mobile App v1.0.2 is now available in both app stores.

This release will now support the ability to receive push notifications for Missing Assignment and Low Mark alerts once upgraded. Once upgraded, the app will prompt parents and students to enable push notifications on their device if they wish to receive them. This update also contains enhancements to the calendar view which allows users to further filter and collapse the calendar to see more assignments for a chosen day.

Parents and students will be prompted to update their app on their device.

Here is a video on how to set up Missing Assignment and Low Assignment Marks Notifications in the Frontline Parent and Student mobile app v1.0.2.
