We are asking you to participate in a public engagement campaign to better understand the wants, needs and opinions of every member of the community when it comes to our school district. The first step in this process is a districtwide survey. Please see the link below to participate. Everybody’s voice and opinions are needed. The second part of this engagement is to attend one of three Town Hall meetings. The meeting taking place at Harrison Elementary School will be on April 19^th from 6 pm – 8 pm. Your attendance is greatly appreciated. More information about registering for this event is listed below.

I have been posting a lot of pictures of events happening at Harrison Elementary. Feel free to send them out to family and friends. This is a great way to keep up on events in school. Community Engagement Survey – Your HELP is NEEDED

In the Southwest Local School District, we work hard to engage with parents and staff to better understand the needs of the district.  We strive to give your children the best possible educational experience - and to do that we need feedback from you.

Last week, we launched a public engagement campaign to better understand the wants, needs, and opinions of every member of the community when it comes to our school district.  We are beginning this effort with a districtwide survey.  Your participation will assist us in making critical decisions and will guide our planning moving forward.

You can participate in our survey by clicking HERE- it should only take you a few minutes.

Once you have completed the survey yourself, we highly encourage you to share it with others in our community - the more feedback we get the more effectively we can serve you.

Progress Book

The Frontline ProgressBook Parent & Student Mobile App v1.0.2 is now available in both app stores. 

This release will now support the ability to receive push notifications for Missing Assignment and Low Mark alerts once upgraded. Once upgraded, the app will prompt parents and students to enable push notifications on their device if they wish to receive them. This update also contains enhancements to the calendar view which allows users to further filter and collapse the calendar to see more assignments for a chosen day.

Parents and students will be prompted to update their app on their device.

Super Ollie’s Sidekicks Blood Drive

Save lives in support of Ollie. Ollie is a first-grade student at Harrison Elementary who has recently had multiple hospital stays and has needed many blood infusions. A Blood Drive in support of Ollie will be held at Harrison Elementary School, on Tuesday, June 6 from noon to 6pm, in the gymnasium. See attached flyer or by calling Hoxworth at (513) 451-0910. Spots are limited and your help is needed. See you on June 6^th.

Kindergarten Registration – 2023-2024 – Spots are FILLING UP!!!

The Southwest Local School District will begin kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year Feb 1. Registration can be completed online from any computer. Detailed instructions regarding the online application will be available on the district's website (www.southwestschools.org) under New Student Registration Tab at midnight on February 1^st. When you online forms are completed and all required documents have been uploaded, call the district registrar at district office at 513-728-8401 to make sure the document shave been received and are acceptable to complete your registration. See the district page for age requirements and immunization requirements. Spots are filling up quickly. Please get your kindergarten students registered now before classes close.

Absences and Tardies – Second Notice

Lately we have experienced a lot of tardies and student absences. It is that time of the year, but our State Truancy Laws do not account for seasonal absences. Letters and court referrals are computer generated after key number of hours missed. Please follow up with Ms. Miller, our Dean of Students, with any questions or concerns.

Please make sure you are calling in your student’s absence when out. This way they will be marked excused versus unexcused. You can begin calling the school office at 7:45 am or leave a message on the attendance message line.
