Ground Breaking Set for New Schools

On Friday, August 23, the Southwest Local School District will break ground on three new elementary schools and one new middle school that, when complete, will provide a modern learning environment for students in grades pre-K through 8.  Combined with ongoing renovations at the existing high school, Southwest facilities will now be ready for educational needs of the 21st century.

Our “Facilities for the Future” project has been years in the making, and was planned and designed with parent, student, teacher and community involvement.  We are grateful to the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission for co-funding the project.  When the buildings open for classes in August 2021, they will offer an educational environment like nothing this community has seen, benefiting our students as they prepare to enter college, the military, or the workforce in the coming years.

The public is invited to these exciting celebrations.  We will hold three separate ceremonies, one at each construction site.  The ceremony at Crosby Elementary will begin at 10:00 AM.  The central campus ceremony will be held north of the football stadium and will begin at 12:30 PM.  Harrison Elementary will hold their celebration at 2:00 PM.
