Southwest Schools’ Spring Teams Excel Academically

Posted on: July 2, 2018

Southwest Local School District’s spring teams had a stellar season off as well as on the field. The William Henry Harrison High School students in the four spring teams merited an average 3.55 GPA (grade point average) on a 4.0 scale for the fourth academic quarter term.

According to Athletic Director Mark Meibers, “Not only are these students excelling in their activities, they are also doing great with academics, showing they truly are student-athletes.  It’s important to note that all of the seven teams have a strong GPA, reflecting positively on the students’ work ethic, and level of commitment to their sports and their education.”

The teams include baseball, boys’ tennis, softball and track & field. GPAs for the teams range from 3.3 to 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.

Meibers adds, “Our student-athletes continue to excel both in the arena and in the classroom. We are very proud of their effort and how they challenge themselves to achieve. Their hard work is evident.”
