Current Principal of Whitewater Valley to Take on Expanded Director Position

Southwest Local School District’s Board of Education recently voted to approve Adam Lohbeck as the district’s director of operations. Lohbeck has served as principal of the district’s Whitewater Valley Elementary School since July 2014.

“Adam’s leadership of the installation of modular classrooms at the Junior School and Crosby Elementary are just one example of his business acumen and ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple responsibilities,” states Superintendent John C. Hamstra.

“I believe that his professionalism, understanding of construction management and outstanding organizational skills will help Adam excel in this position,” notes Hamstra.

He adds that the director of operations position is not a new role, but rather an evolution of the existing food service/transportation director position with the added responsibilities of supervising maintenance and facilities.

Prior to joining SLSD in 2014, Lohbeck served as assistant principal at Colerain Elementary School and as assistant to the principal/instructional coach at Monfort Heights Elementary School. He launched his professional career as a second and third-grade teacher at Monfort Heights Elementary Schools, serving in this capacity for five years.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a master’s of Educational Administration degree, both from Xavier University, and holds a superintendent’s license from the State of Ohio.

As director of operations, Lohbeck will direct and oversee Southwest Local School’s food service, transportation, athletics, grounds and facilities programs. He will also be heavily involved in the design and construction of the district’s four new schools and renovation of the high school as part of the “Facilities for the Future” project.

“It has been very rewarding serving as principal for the past four years,” states Lohbeck. “I’ve greatly enjoyed getting to know the students and their families, as well as working with the staff at Whitewater Valley Elementary to help our students achieve academic success and grow as individuals.”

He adds, “I’m eager to lead the district’s operations and to ensure that the services are in place to best meet the needs of all of our students.”
