House Bill 96 Would Be Detrimental to Schools and Communities

Reach out to House Bill 96 Conference Committee members and let them know that cuts to Southwest’s funding will be detrimental to our schools and our community.
As proposed, the Ohio Senate’s House Bill 96 would reduce funding to Southwest by over $2,174,800 in fiscal year 2027. The proposed cuts from the Senate would force Southwest to make significant cuts to programs and student supports.
The Senate’s proposed cuts WILL NOT reduce your local property tax burden, but will send your state taxes to other schools. Southwest already receives $2,625 less than the average school district in the state of Ohio.
Southwest is not seeking an increase in State Aid but simply asking the state to hold funding steady at fiscal year 2025 levels. If this is important to you, act soon, as the conference committee will begin meeting June 17, 2025.
