Southwest Local School District has received another “clean audit” for the most recent fiscal year ending June 30, 2021. You can find the details of the report HERE.
Once again, our Treasurer’s Office has received not only a clean audit but has received the Auditor of State Award for excellence in financial reporting for the 2021 fiscal year. This award continues to demonstrate Southwest’s commitment to strong fiscal stewardship of taxpayer resources. The award can be found HERE.
FY22 Final Budget
Southwest Local School District approved its fiscal year 2022 at the December 16, 2021 regular board meeting. This budget aligns with the districts projected 5-year forecast approved in October 2021.
Auditor of State Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting
Southwest Local School District once again received the Auditor of State Award for Excellence in financial reporting for it’s fiscal year 2021 Audit. A press release for the award can be found HERE. FY23 November 5-Year Forecast
FY23 Forecast Assumptions
Southwest Local School District approved it’s 5-year forecast at the October 20, 2022 regular board meeting. This 5-year forecast puts the district in good shape for the foreseeable future. Beginning in fiscal year 2025 the district will see additional costs coming back to the general fund from expenses currently carried in the Care’s Act Funds. This has been called the “fiscal cliff” by many across the State of Ohio as many districts see a distinct downturn in financial condition beginning in fiscal year 2025. State Foundation funding is up for big changes at the end of fiscal year 2023 and could result in big changes for many districts including Southwest.

FY22 Annual Financial Audit Complete
