Crosby Honored as Duke Energy School of the Week

Posted on: April 19, 2019

Every elementary school teaches the "Three R's", but not every school has a Unicycle Club!  Crosby Elementary has the "Pop Cycles", and their hard work has helped to earn Duke Energy School of the Week honors.  A check for $1,000 was presented live on Local 12's "Good Morning Cincinnati" newscast on April 18.

The Pop Cycles have been around for years, originally founded by now-retired teacher Maria Beatty.  Parent volunteer Tim Bonnlander has taken over the reigns and kept the group at the forefront of the community.  Some highlights of this school year include performances at a sold-out University of Cincinnati Bearcats Mens' Basketball game and an appearance in the 100th Findlay Market Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade.

Principal Kiersten Rogers accepted the check from Kim Vogelgesang from Duke Energy, flanked by Local 12's Perry Schaible and members of the Pop Cycles.
