Schools, Churches Team Up to Provide Food During Closure

Posted on: March 14, 2020

Local churches and food pantries have partnered with the Southwest Local School District to ensure that no child goes hungry during the extended school closure due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak.

Power Packs will be available for pickup beginning March 30 at each SLSD elementary school, Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM, and at Harrison Junior School Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.  Call the respective school before coming, as this schedule could be affected by the deep cleaning work taking place in each building during the shutdown.

As always, the Food Pantry at Harrison Junior School is available on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 PM.  Call the Junior School (513-367-4831) to schedule.

There are numerous other food pantries available locally through the generosity of Church on Fire, Pathways to Home, Christ's Loving Hands, Miami Whitewater United Methodist Church, Lifespring Church, Legacy Church, Whitewater Crossing Christian Church and others.  Click HERE for full details.

If you are a student with an urgent food need, text 513-327-8539.
