With the cold and flu season upon us, please remember to keep students home when they are sick to help prevent spread. Students must be free of fevers, vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours, without the use of medication, before returning to school. Please contact the school if your student will be out. Let's stay healthy and safe this winter!

As winter progresses and the chances for winter weather increase, please make sure your contact information is current in Final Forms.  If you are already getting emails, texts and phone calls from your child’s school via the School Messenger Mass Notification system, you should be all set to receive weather-related information.  You can also check the District website ( and the official District social media accounts for the most up-to-date, accurate information. Also, HALF-DAY KINDERGARTEN parents need to be advised that whenever school is delayed, AM Kindergarten is canceled.

Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year will open on February 1st at 6:00 a.m. We will once again offer a limited number of tuition-based full-day options. The number of full-day classrooms will depend on space and enrollment numbers. Full-day spots are assigned by the date stamp in Final Forms.

Teachers should have reached out to you to schedule your winter conference. Conferences will take place on February 1 and 7. If you have not been in touch your child’s teacher, please contact them ASAP to get a conference scheduled.

During the strategic planning process, the community expressed their desire for increased support for our gifted population. Therefore, for the 2024-2025 school year, each elementary school and the junior school will be adding a Gifted Intervention Specialist. More details to come on this topic but we wanted to pass along the good news!

All students in half day Kindergarten – 5th grade have a school fee set by the Board of Education, which is used to purchase educational materials and other items used by each student.  The fee for the 2023-24 school year will be $70.00 ($60 + $10 tech fee).  Full day kindergarten is tuition based.  Deadline for payment of fees is October 2, 2023.  Checks should be made payable to “Southwest Local School District”.  Or you may log in to our Parent Portal Click on the 9 squares (top right of your screen) and click PayForIt.

Please email if you are having trouble accessing ProgressBook or the Abre Parent Portal.

It is that time of year! Crosby Elementary will be participating in The Kids’ Heart Challenge- better known by students as The Heart Jump-a-thon!  Click on the link for details.

We also partner with Best Point (formally Children’s Home) to offer school therapy to students. Best Point also offers Care Coordination to help parents in the home as well. A Best Point referral can be made by Mrs. Lee or by you as the parent or guardian:
