SAFETY
COLD AND FLU SEASON
With the upcoming cold and flu season upon us, please remember to keep students home when they are sick to help prevent spread. Students must be free of fevers, vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours, without the use of medication, before returning to school. Please contact the school if your student will be out. Let's stay healthy and safe this winter!
SCHOOL DELAYS AND CLOSINGS
When inclement weather occurs, our school messaging system will be used to distribute information. You can also listen to local TV and radio stations for information on Southwest Local Schools. Any delay or closing is also posted to the school district website: www.southwestschools.org as well as on our Crosby Facebook page. Also, HALF-DAY KINDERGARTEN parents need to be advised that whenever school is delayed, AM Kindergarten is canceled.
ACADEMIC GROWTH
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Teachers will be sending home information to schedule your winter conference. Conferences will take place on February 2 and 7. Teachers are happy to accommodate face-to-face, virtual, or phone conferences, whichever best fits your schedule.
SPELLING BEE
Winning fourth and fifth grade students from their class's spelling bees will be invited to participate in the Crosby Elementary Spelling Bee on January 10th at 1:30 p.m. Parents of students in the Bee will be invited to attend. All other 4th and 5th graders will be in the audience as well as the 3rd grade classes.
NWEA MAP TESTING
The winter administration of MAP will take place during the week of January 23-27th. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during that week that will cause your child to miss school.
STUDENT FEES
All students in half day Kindergarten – 5th grade have a school fee set by the Board of Education, which is used to purchase educational materials and other items used by each student. The fee for school year 2022-23 will be $55.00. Full day kindergarten is tuition based. Checks should be made payable to “Southwest Local School District” and can be sent in with your student or fees may be paid online. Yearbooks are PRE-SALE only! There will NOT be any extras to sell at the end of the year. The last date to order yearbooks will be April 10th! Yearbooks are expected to arrive on May 5th.
CROSBY POPCYCLE PERFORMANCES
The Crosby Popcycles, our unicycle team, will be performing at Harrison High School’s Basketball game on January 10th at halftime. They will also be performing at the UC Girls' Basketball game on January 14th, Xavier’s Boys Basketball game on January 15th, and at UC Boys' Basketball game on February 1st. I am sure they would love to have your Crosby support if you are able to make it to any of these events!
MAYOR’S FUND
Thank you to everyone who donated food and clothing to our annual Mayor’s Fund Drive! We collected 6,652 items, well surpassing our goal of 6,500. It was worth a pie in the face!

To access Progress Book login information, login to Final Forms https://southwestharrison-oh.finalforms.com and click on: Student/Parent Access Codes. All the information you need to create or access your account is here. If you are having any issues email parentaccess@southwestschools.org .
How does the district/school communicate information?
District- email using School Messenger, website, Facebook, Twitter
School- Principal- Monthly Email/Text sent using School Messenger
Facebook and Twitter are used to post reminders only- all new information will be communicated through email/text.
