Update

We have moved into the last quarter of the 2021-22 school year and spring is in full swing! The next few weeks will move fast, and our seniors will start preparing for graduation and their opportunity to walk across the stage and be recognized as a high school graduate. Our goal for the next few weeks is for all of our students to finish strong. Below you will find information that will guide you through the end of the year and a great finish for your student.

Extra Academic Help

Harrison High School will be offering after school tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday during the 4th quarter in the makerspace from 3:05pm-4:30pm. Two teachers will be available each session for students in grades 9-12 who are struggling with a certain content area, need help with a specific assignment, or have an end of the year project they would like help with. The sign-up form can be found here. Students in need of transportation after their session will be provided an activity bus pass. Details regarding the activity bus can be found here

End of Course Testing Change

In our last round of EOC testing, we had some confusion on what time students were to be at school on testing days. Our next round of End of Course testing will be Tuesday April 12th. All students will need to be at Harrison High School at our regular start time: 8:05 am. All students will report to their 1st bell class for the first five minutes of school for attendance and then will be released to their testing area or their designated class. We will be making announcements at school explaining this change, starting Thursday April 7th. Below are the EOC Tests we have remaining:

4/12 – Algebra - Part 1 (Freshman),  Geometry – Part 1 (Sophomores)
4/13 - Algebra - Part 2 (Freshman),  Geometry – Part 2 (Sophomores)
4/19 – Biology Part 1 (Freshman)
4/20 – Biology Part 2 (Freshman)
4/21 – History Part 1 (Freshman), Government Part 1 (Sophomores)
4/22 - History Part 2 (Freshman), Government Part 2 (Sophomores)

Scholarships

Senior Parents:  Application for scholarships will be closing soon. Scholarship applications for Harrison High School Seniors can be found in Naviance. Your senior will know how to log on to this program. Once students are logged into Naviance, they click on “Colleges” and then click on “Scholarship Search”.  Many of these applications are just for Harrison High School Seniors.  A number of these scholarships are due by mid-April. If you have any questions, please email steve.barnes@southwestschools.org.

Junior and Senior Prom

Prom will be on May 13th. The Prom will be aboard the BB Riverboat. After Prom will be at “The Place”, a skating rink and game room. If you are interested in helping out or donating to After Prom, please contact Jody Rivera at Jodyrivera99@gmail.com. Tickets will go on sale a couple of weeks before Prom and will include both Prom and After Prom. We will be sending out more information soon regarding ticket prices and times. Reminder: students can have no more than 10 absences (parent excused) since our return from winter break, January 5th, to attend Prom. These absences do not include doctor, legal, dental notes or COVID illnesses. If you have any notes that you have not turned into the attendance office, please turn them in as soon as possible.
