ACT Test Information for Juniors

Posted on: October 29, 2020
ACT

Dear Parents,

We met with all Juniors this week to speak of the importance of the ACT (Virtual Students can access this information on their Class of 2022 Teams Page), specifically working toward their best personal score during their junior year.  This is the year of utmost importance to make a push to increase their ACT scores and put them in the best position possible for their goals after high school.  On February 23rd, your child will, along with the rest of the Junior Class, take an ACT Exam, free of charge, this one time only.  There will be other opportunities through the ACT registration site to take the test on additional dates (which we recommend at least a second attempt).  You are able to view these dates and register at act.org.  The ACT is the leading US college admissions test that measures what you learn in high school to determine your academic readiness for college.   We encourage ALL students, even if they don't see college in their immediate future, to take this test serious and put forth their best effort.  This score will stay with them forever and we never know what life decisions we will make in the future.

How to prepare:

All Juniors will have an opportunity to sign-up and take a Practice ACT Test via their Naviance account in November.  Sign-ups will be available to all Juniors via Teams through Microsoft Forms on November 6th during the Advisory Period.  The information received from taking the practice test will highlight your child's strengths and areas of weakness.  With this knowledge, your child can use their Naviance account to further prep and study for any upcoming ACT exam.

If your child is struggling to get to the Test Prep Portal after completing the Practice Test, directions are listed below:
1)  Log into Naviance Account
2)  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Naviance Test Prep" at the bottom-left of the page.
3)  The page that opens will share your child's predicted score and below that, areas/links to click on to practice the areas of weakness.

Click HERE for an at-a-glance summary of important dates.  If you have any further questions, please contact your child's counselor.
