Three Embark on New Leadership Roles in SLSD

Three veteran educators will be taking on new leadership roles in the Southwest Local School District this year.

 

Rogers

Mrs. Kiersten Rogers


On June 20th, Mrs. Kiersten Rogers was approved by the Southwest Local School Board to serve the district as the new Director of Pupil Services.

 

Mrs. Rogers joined the Southwest Local School District in 2002 and has been with the district for 17 years.  She spent 12 years as an Intervention Specialist, serving students with disabilities in grades K-5.  In 2014 she became the Principal at Crosby Elementary and has spent the last 5 years there.

 

Mrs. Rogers grew up in North Bend, Ohio and graduated from Taylor High School in the Three Rivers Local School District.  She graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education.  From there she attended Xavier University where she received a master’s degree in Administration.  Mrs. Rogers continued her studies at Xavier University in order to obtain a Principal’s license and a Superintendent’s license.

 

She currently resides in Lawrenceburg, Indiana with her husband, John, and their 10-year-old son Liam.

 

Mrs. Rogers is looking forward to serving the Southwest Local community in her new role.

 

Aghotte

Mrs. Joanne Aghotte

 

The Southwest Local School District Board of Education named Mrs. Joanne Aghotte the next Principal of Crosby Elementary at their July meeting.

 

Aghotte graduated from Butler Area High School in Butler, Pennsylvania.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and her Master’s degree in Educational Administration at the University of Cincinnati.

 

Joanne began her teaching career in Sanford, North Carolina and taught there for 5 years in third and fifth grades.  She joined the Southwest Local School District in 2001.  During her time in the district she has taught at Harrison Elementary, Miamitown Elementary and Harrison Junior School.  For the last two years Joanne has been in an administrative role at Harrison High School, first as Dean of Students, then as Assistant Principal.



Joanne lives in Mt. Lookout with her husband Steve.  They enjoy traveling, cooking, and playing pickleball.

 

McBee

Mr. Brandon McBee

 

Brandon McBee has been appointed as the next Assistant Principal at William Henry Harrison High School.  The Southwest Local School District made the approval at their monthly meeting on July 18.

 

Mr. McBee joined the district in 2015 as a science teacher at Harrison Junior School.  He added the role of Dean of Students in 2018, coordinating the school’s PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) program.  In addition to his work in the classroom, Brandon coached girls basketball.

 

Prior to his time at SLSD, McBee taught Science at Colerain Middle School and Colerain High School.

 

McBee hails from Cincinnati, Ohio where he graduated from Colerain High School. He also earned his Bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and his Master’s degree from Mount St. Joseph University.

 

Brandon lives in the district with his wife, Bethany, the school nurse at Miamitown and Crosby elementaries.  Together they have a 3-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, and a 19-month-old son, Braxton.

 

Mr. McBee said he is “extremely excited to join the high school staff and have the opportunity to continue to serve the students of the Southwest Local community”.
