SLSD Service Project Benefits Those in Need This Holiday Season

Again this year, the Southwest Local School District is proud to partner with the Harrison Mayor’s Fund, This City His City, Christ’s Loving Hands, and JTM Food Group to provide for those in need in our community this holiday season.

The annual Food and Clothing Drive will take place from December 9-13.  Donations are being accepted at each SLSD building.  The drive seeks to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for those less fortunate throughout the Southwest Local School District community.  In addition, winter clothing items such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots are also being accepted.

Last year, approximately 25,000 food items were collected district-wide, and we look to surpass that number this year.  “This is our largest local community service project of the year,” says Mike Morris, SLSD’s Director of Communications.  “Our community has always been great at rallying around our neighbors in need, and we know this year will be no exception.”

Items will be distributed on Saturday, December 21 to families who pre-registered with the Harrison Mayor’s Fund. The distribution will take place from 9:00-11:00 AM in the Harrison High School Gymnasium.  Excess items will be donated to area food pantries.
