New Traffic Pattern for Harrison Elementary

Posted on: September 25, 2019
HE Traffic Pattern

Construction is ready to begin and fencing is going up. Our new schools are on their way, which is certainly an exciting time for Harrison! With that progress though, comes its challenges. Losing the area in the back of Harrison Elementary for bus arrival/dismissal has forced us back on to the road during these times.

Cars coming from the North on S Elm St have been diverted down one block on Kater to Hill St over the past two days, where they can turn onto Broadway and avoid illegally passing buses as they load or unload students.

In the interest of student safety, the city of Harrison would like to help eliminate traffic coming back along S Elm St after drop off as well. The city will open the gates of the Community Center so that cars can turn down George St and cut through the Community Center driveway to Etta Ave. Please see the image above, which highlights this new traffic pattern during construction.

Thank you to the city for making this change in the interest of student safety. Thank you also to the parents and community members for your flexibility and understanding during the construction process. We are looking forward to August 2021!
