Update

As we close out the 3rd Quarter with our families we are excited to share some incredible news with you and some updates going into 4th Quarter.

SLSD Town Hall(s)

Our team at Southwest is looking forward to connecting with not just SLSD families, but community members as well through Town Hall meetings.  The first meeting is this week at Crosby Elementary.  This meeting is open to any Southwest Local School District resident and/or parent where they will have the opportunity to share their supports, ideas and concerns as we go into the future school years!  We would love to see you at this event.

In addition, families can complete the following survey to make their voice heard!  Feel free to share this with other residents and families as we want to receive as much feedback as possible.  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdazkIzfT-8TD5fDwnO8h7RcrQ_mk4k_c-xYK3Xz1W0rPoiEQ/viewform

If you are looking at new ways for community feedback, please check the following section out on our School Website:  https://www.southwestschools.org/district-news/entry/community-engagement-807/

8th Grade Dance Dress Giveaway

Our Harrison Prom and 8th Grade Dance free dress giveaway day is scheduled for THIS SUNDAY, March 19th at the Activity Center.  If you are in need of a dress for the 8th Grade dance, this is a great opportunity.  Thank you to the Moore family who has put this together over the last several years to help support our students.

Good Grades Party

This Thursday, we will be hosting our 3rd Quarter Good Grades Party.  This is one of the many ways we look to support our students in growth.  Students who have earned A’s, B’s, and C’s will have the opportunity to attend.  Students who have not earned those grades will have the opportunity to complete missing work and get additional supports during this time.

Bully Reporting

Each year, we take time with our students and families to review the bully policy, as well as provide supports on how to report bullying concerns.  One of the best places to get information as both a parent and student is at our website: https://www.southwestschools.org/harrison-junior-school/bullying-20/

We meet with our students the first day of each quarter and review this information as well as provide supports and reminders of our core values.  If you have concerns about bullying, please encourage your child to complete a My Side of the Story and turn it into the office.  In addition, we are happy to speak with you regarding any concerns by calling us directly at 513-367-4831.

Safety Drills

Safety is our Number 1 goal at Southwest Local.  With this in mind, we complete Safety Drills Monthly.  This Thursday morning, we will be completing safety drills including ALICE, Tornado, and Fire.  This will take place early in our school day.

Getting Involved

We are excited that we are up to 91 members of our 7th and 8th Grade Track Team.  Our goal is to have over 100!  It is not too late to join, if you are interested in joining track, please get information from Miss Skelly, Mr. Banks, or Mr. Burns!
