HJS Update

Update

It is hard to believe, but we are already 1/10th of the way through the school year.  Students continue to excel.  We have excellent student attendance, students are engaged in the classroom, teachers are hard at work pushing children each day.  We have lots of after school activities starting ranging from athletics (who are having great success to start the year) to clubs such as Book Club, Robotics, E-Sports, The Gathering, etc…. It is amazing to see our students grow and we want to thank our parents for being so important in that process.

Mission, Motto & Core Values
Trust, Respect, Ownership, and Leadership are our non-negotiables.  This is what we expect out of ourselves, our students & our community.  Thank you for being a part of these values.  This week, we will be measuring your child’s progress in reading and in math by completing the MAP Assessment.  This measure is used to help us understand your child’s growth.  For many of you, your child has taken this assessment three times a year since third grade.  We use this data to drive our instruction and meet students where they are at.  This includes students who are behind grade level, at grade level, and above grade level.  This is one of the most important ways we can measure your child’s progress academically.

Yard Signs
Do you have a 6th Grade Student?  If so, we purchased a yard sign as a way to welcome them to HJS.  Please stop by the Junior School Office and pickup your sign anytime during school hours.

Celebrations
Awesome success by our athletic programs.  Each sport with a combined winning record.

Check out this week’s Harrison Press where you will see our first two “Harrison Press Students of the Month.”

The start of Book Club & Art Club for our students.

10 Harrison Junior School teachers being honored for the impact on athletes in the Volleyball program

PTO
Our next PTO meeting is this Thursday in the Wildcat Room at The Activity Center.

Communication
Just a friendly reminder to our families, if you are contacting teachers or staff, our goal is to respond within 24 business hours.  If you do not get a response, please let me know directly and I will follow up with the correct person.  It is important to us that we continue to build on the foundation of communication that is in place.  Speaking of which, please look for our next parent email blast to come out the week of September 26th.  We will continue to post other updates on Social Media and via school announcements too.

Thank You
As always, we appreciate our families and their support throughout the school year!
