Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus was a famous person.  He was from Italy, but he sailed for Spain.  He had

four voyages that he went on for special things like to find different islands and for his people to

recognize him for.  He also had three boats for his crew to sail on. the boats were called: The Nina,

The Pinta, and The Santa Maria.  His ships were very strong and made of oak, ash, and maple.

Christopher Columbus set on his first voyage from the port of Palos in southern Spain, on August 3rd,

1942.  The first voyage that Christopher Columbus went on was a quest to find uncharted islands that

the person that was at the head of his land asked him if Christopher and a large crew would go seek

new and undiscovered islands. He was delayed in Spain for 4 weeks by calm winds and the need for

repairs and a refit.  While he was on his voyage one of the crew members Pinzon took the Pinta and

sailed off alone with very few crew mates to do his own thing.  His second voyage was to find the

new continent as we know it  today as North America.  But when he had arrived the Indians were

already settled and drove Christopher Columbus and his crew out of their land.  When he returned to

his home he was disappointed.

His journal that he took with him is a famous object today and is held in a museum.  His 3rd

voyage was to find more islands to seek.  He still had his journal though.  He didn't do very well.  His

fourth voyage was to do things to make his crew pleased and he had.  After that he became the

governor of Spain. Christopher Columbus went to see the king and queen in Barcelona.. The king and

queen were very happy with the things he brought home.  They offered to let him go back and take

all the men and ships he needed. And then it comes to a end for Christopher Columbus, He got very

sick and died a year and a half later at the age of 54.
