| Early life- Columbus was born in the summer of 1452. His father, Domenico Columbus, a wool weaver owned his own business in the port city of Genoa, Italy. Columbus had very little or no schooling. Christopher Columbus grew up to be a tall , and muscular young man. Columbus worked with his father until he was at the age of 22. While working with he's dad he probably went out with the sardine fishing fleets. He also probably went on there small fishing trips like North Africa, or on the coast over to Carsica. |

| Columbus plan- By the mid 1480's, Columbus began to put a plan together for exploration. He'd wanted to find a westward route to Asia. Now the father of two children, Columbus and his son sought the king and queen of Spain for support of his plans. After being rejected several times by the king and queen, he finally obtained their approval. Columbus goals for his expedition were to spread Christianity, to increase Spanish popularity, and search for gold. At the age of 41 he began to line out his lifetime dream. |

Voyages to the new world- On August 3, 1492, Columbus sailed from Spain with three small ships, the Santamaria, Pinta, and the Nina. He began his coarse sailing west, changing to the southwest where he saw and conquered some islands, Cuba and Hispaniola. On his return to Spain , he was made "the admiral of the ocean sea" and governance general of all new lands he had discovered or should discover. In 1493 on his second expedition, Columbus sailed with 17 ships and 1500 colonists. Columbus third expedition resulted in the discovery of Trinidad. His last expedition took place in 1502. He sill hoped to get to Asia and Japan . He became shipwrecked in Jamaica and was forced to return to Spain.

America- Today, it is debated if Columbus actually is the correct person to honor for the discover of America. History now shows that other expeditions contributed to the discovery of America however Columbus will always be associated through his courageous voyages and encounters.
