cathedrals

The picture above is a great example of the outside of a cathedral in Italy.  In the medieval era, cathedrals were built only by men and were assisted by the sons of the builders.  That explains the names of many forms of cathedrals, such as the "Groin Vault" and "The Flying Buttress".  Many people believed that Cathedrals were symbolic for fingers pointing up towards the heavens and  to the Gods.

The following pictures are of Italian Cathedrals:

Many people go to visit these beautiful monuments all around the world.  Tourists come and love to enjoy the spiritual environment of the Cathedrals.  Many photographers take amazing pictures of these beautiful buildings from the outside and the inside.  Tourists, vacationers, and business workers can find many of these structures in Italy, where they are known for their style, and architecture.

There was no modern technology to create these structures.  Everything about these cathedrals was made by hand.  Much time went into the making of the arches of these cathedrals.  Many architects  expressed how they felt about god in their work.  The arches were beautiful masterpieces that took long hours of time and molding.  Cathedrals were made to honor God and to have a sacred place to go when anyone needed to be close to him.

A cathedral is a church containing a cathedral - the throne of a bishop.
