Mr. Robinson's rock band aka "Billy Hank and the Cat House Crooners", at the OMEA convention, proving that rock music is just as important as the rest. There they received a standing ovation and many positive responses to a rock band being a credited class in high school.

Southwest Local School
District Students
Achieve National Merit
Status
Ben Wilder and Sara Swartout, both
seniors at William Henry Harrison High School, have been
named National Merit Semifinalists. This is an honor
that allows them to advance to National Merit Finalist
status and opens the door to scholarship offers.
Sara is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Swartout and Ben
is the son of Mark and Diane Wilder.
Senior Julie Warders has also achieved
“Commended Student” status of the National Merit
Scholarship Program. Julie is the daughter of Glenn and
Mary Warders.
About 230 Greater Cincinnati high school seniors are
among the 16,000 semifinalists in the 55th annual
National Merit Scholarship Program.
More than 1.5 million juniors in
22,000 high schools entered the 2010 National Merit
Scholarship Program by taking the 2008 Preliminary
SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Sara and Ben scored better than 99 percent of all the
Ohio students who took the PSAT test in their junior
year.
Nationally, the semifinalists represent less than 1
percent of high school seniors.
Awesome! Harrison High Senior Brittany Wilson-Farley
has earned First Place at the state track meet in
the shot put with a throw of 45' 5" .
She is a State Champion!
Congratulations to the track staff of

The first Super Summertime Send Off was a GREAT SUCCESS!
Over 70 Kindergarten and 1st grade students and their families from across the district attended the event held at Harrison Elementary on June 2.
Our teachers taught the families how to do reading and math activities/games at home during the summer and the families were given huge bags full of math and reading resources. Hotdogs, chips and drinks were provided also free of charge.
Thank you to all the elementary staff and administrators who came to help!

Recently Harrison Junior School Principal John Hamstra and 4 HJS students went to the Ronald McDonald House and donated almost 100 pounds of aluminum pop tabs.
It is with great pride that I have the honor of announcing three students that have earned the distinction of being ranked in the top 1% of all high school students in the nation. At the minimum, these three students will all be honored with National Merit Commended Student honors. These students will now wait until September to see if they are awarded National Merit Scholar honors. Congratulations to Sara Swartout and Ben Wilder, who both attended Whitewater Valley Elementary and also to Julie Warders, who attended St. Johns. We could not be more proud of you and we thank you and your parents for bringing such great honor to our district.

Bet you know what this is!

Congratulations to Harrison Head Baseball Coach Shawn Sowders for
his first official victory as Varsity Head Coach . He led the
