Important Information

3rd Grade Testing: Third grade students will take the Ohio Reading Test on Tuesday, October 7th. Please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast and gets a good nights rest.

Conferences: Return your conference notes as soon as possible. Conferences are an important part of your child's education. Please schedule a conference with your child's teacher.

Teacher Inservice Day: School will be closed on Friday, October 17th for teacher inservice day.

Crosy Annual Ham and Turkey Dinner: Support our sister school at their annual Ham and Turkey Dinner on Saturday, October 11th from 3:00-7:00pm. The cost is $7.50 for all carry outs. In the dining room adults are $7.50, seniors $6.50 and children $4.50.

Trunk or Treat: Once again "Trunk or Treat" will by sponsored by our business partner, Whitewater Crossing Christian Church. "Trunk or Treat" will take place Saturday, October 25th in the church parking lot. The event is free for ages 3012. Call 661-5811 with any questions.

Fall Room Parties: Classroom fall parties will take place on Friday, October 31st. Students may bring costumes to school to change into at 1:50. They are not permitted to wear their costume to school. The parade of costumes will be at 2:00 and the parties will begin at 2:20. Thank you room parents for organizing these activities.

Early Childhood Openings: The HCESC Early Learning Initiative Program at Miamitown has openings for preschool children. The program is a full day comprehensive child development program that focuses on helping children enter Kindergarten ready to succeed. The program offers:
-A curriculum that addresses cognitive, developmental and socio-emotional needs.
-Focuses on the development of the whole child.
-Nutritious meals and snacks
-Follows the school district calendar
-A nurturing, qualified staff.

Meijer Rewards Program: We are excited to announce the Meijer Community Rewards, a program designed for school through Meijer. It's simple, all you have to do is join the Meijer Community Rewards. It's free and can be done on-line at meijer.com/rewards or by mailing the application located in the school lobby.

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

Attendance is Important: The Ohio State Legislature has passed a law known as Senate Bill 181 which provides new language regarding unexcused absences. one month or 12 unexcused absences in one school year as habitually truant. The school must refer habitual truants to the Hamilton County Juvenile Court.

Recycling Program: Recently our school stared a recycling program. We welcome our Miamitown families to drop off recycling items to benefit our recycling fundraiser. The following items are accepted: newspaper, magazines, paper, catalogs and mail.

Locked Door Policy: Parents please drop off your children at the bus dock doors in the morning. The cafeteria doors are locked for security purposes. Also, please remember to sign in at the office before going anywhere in the building when you are visiting. Thank you for keeping our children safe.

Lost and Found: Parents please check the Lost and Found for any items your child might be missing. Our lost and found is located in a box on our stage.

Ink Recycling: We are participating in an on-going ink cartridge recycling program. Send in empty ink cartridges or laser toner cartridges to Mrs. Pemberton. Thanks for your help.

Bus Dismissal: The parking lost areas and the street are very busy and congested at dismissal time. We ask parents to help us make the dismissal as safe as possible for our children by helping with the following procedures:
-If you park in the lot next to the school, please do not move your vehicle until all children have loaded the buses and the buses have pulled away.
-Please do not step between the buses when crossing with your children on Mill Street and do not motion for them to cross without you. Please use the crosswalk at the corner and our crossing guard will guide children across.

School Fees: The school fees for the 2008-2009 school year are $15.00. You can send it in with your child or bring it to the office. Checks should be made payable to: Miamitown School. Students who receive Aid to Dependent Children (A.D.C.) or Disability Assistance Funds (D.A.F.) may have their instructional fees waived. To verify that your child qualifies, please obtain from the Department of Human Services a letter bearing the student's name, address and date of birth and include a statement that he or she receives A.D.C. or D.A.F. payments. We are not permitted to accept any other documentation to waive fees.

Medicines: Medicines can not be brought to school by children. If your child will be taking any type of medication at school, please bring it to the office and fill out a form to give us permission to administer the medication to your child. This includes, tylenol. cough drops, creams, prescriptions, etc.

Don't Forget to Call Us: If your child is sick or will not be in school for any reason, please call the office before 9:30am. We always want to be sure the students are all safe and accounted for.
