Junior School Hosts Annual Senior Citizens Holiday Program

On Tuesday December 7th, Harrison Junior School hosted its annual senior citizens holiday program and brunch. Area senior citizen groups, as well as junior school students’ grandparents, great-aunts/uncles and friends were invited to this festive occasion. The art students of Mrs. Jones decorated the lobby.
The senior citizens were greeted at the door by honor society students and escorted to the auditorium to enjoy a holiday concert. The Junior School Band and Chorus under the direction of Dan Meeks and Shauna Thompson performed the concert.
Following the concert, senior citizens were paired with student escorts, many who were their own grandchildren, nieces or nephews. Souvenir pictures were taken for the senior citizens.

The students then escorted their partners to the cafeteria where they were served a spectacular brunch prepared by Betty Ashcraft and crew in the kitchen.
The tables were decorated with place mats, ornaments and cards created and provided by the Honor Society.
Each guest received a holiday ornament (Made by the home economic classes of Mrs. Shaw) as a memento. Students were kept busy serving their “adopted grandparents”.

Tours of the building were available to all who wanted to visit classrooms with faculty and staff.
Thanks to all who made this annual program special; may you have a joyous holiday season!
