2006 Roman Project for Mr. Sams' Class

The Roman Empire's influence on our society is huge. We owe them credit for much of our societies' institutions and beliefs. Their impact is felt in our daily lives whether it be the words we use or the roads we travel upon. Students will, individually, collect some research on a particular aspect of Roman history. Topics will be selected in class and approved by Mr. Sams. The Roman Project will then proceed as such:
January 17-20, in class, select topic (Chapters 13/14/15/16), conduct research utilizing resource materials available in class and online.
January 23-27, in class and at home, research whatever is necessary and possible regarding this project. Write/develop information for "slides" (storyboarding).
Jan. 30- February 3, in class, finalize research project by developing a PowerPoint Presentation.
February 6-10, individually present PowerPoint Presentations in class. (approx. 5 Minutes)
Project Description:
Each student will be required to keep track of the progress of their project with a "work log" that will be filled out everyday and collected every Friday during the project. Students will also be graded on their work and effort in class EVERYDAY! (300 pts. total)
The final project will consist of a 9 to 11 slide presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint. PowerPoint is a piece of presentation software that allows the student to create "slides" of information. Students will save their work to a network folder so that they can access their work from almost any computer in the building. I will back up student work at least twice a day. All computers/software/technology/books that are necessary for this project will be available in the classroom. The length of this project will be similar to a two-page, double spaced, size 12 font report on the topic or a poster/ visual multimedia item that conveys information about the topic. (200 pts. total)
You will work with a partner to learn HOW to use PowerPoint BUT you will create your OWN presentation for the class. Every student will present their own PowerPoint to the class at the end of the project
Remember, DUE DATE IS February 6th. Presentations will be conducted from Feb. 6th to the 10th, 2006.
