Marika, On the Same Page
Participating in the “On the Same Page” program sponsored by the Hamilton County Public Library, the 7th grade Advanced Language Arts class recently completed reading Marika, a novel written by Andrea Cheng, a Cincinnati author, about the events her mother experienced in Hungary during the Holocaust. Research and presentations about the Jewish people and their experiences have given the students insight and understanding of stereotypes, propaganda, and social injustice. Paige Torgrimsen, librarian at the Harrison Public Library, facilitated a book discussion with the students and Crosby Township Book Club members. Various generations were represented and ideas and information were exchanged.
