Harrison Junior School Honor Society
The Harrison Junior School Honor Society held its annual induction of seventh and eighth grade member in the school auditorium on the evening of April 10, 2001. The ceremony was held to acknowledge the academic excellence and community service completed by the society's one hundred, sixty-nine members. Eight grade members received silver service pins, as well as academic certificates. Seventh grade inductees received academic certificates. Speeches were given on the topics of scholarship, character, honor, service, and leadership. This year's eighth grade officers are: Sheena Niehaus, president; Ellen McDonald, vice -president; Sarah Edwards, secretary; Nicole Johnson, treasurer; and Molly Biddle, student council representative.
The guest speaker, and honorary society member was Mrs. Becky Vieth, instructor of language arts and volleyball coach at Harrison Junior School. Mrs. Vieth spoke to the members and guests on their willingness to go the extra distance for success, and the influence of parents in developing discipline in learning. She went on to explain how that this gave her a positive experience, as a teacher, working with students who come in and go that extra distance in order to succeed.
Dan Meeks and the eighth grade band provided wonderful entertainment and music for the induction ceremony. The eighth grade brass ensemble performed a piece entitled Caesar's March. A melody of music was featured as the students received pins and certificates.
