VOCABULARY WORDS business cheated clever harvesting lazy partners wealth READING This week we will be reading the story, “Tops and Bottoms.” The skill of the week will be Summarizing. A summary of a story tells what the story is all about without telling details. We will also review sequencing. We will be working on words with the vowel sounds in air; very; ear and eer. GRAMMAR We will be continuing discussing verbs and verbs in sentences. MATH We will continue working on Chapter 4 (time, data and graphs). THANKSGIVING FEAST Hooven’s Thanksgiving Feast will be this Friday, November 21st. The third graders will be making the stuffing for the feast. The stations will begin in the afternoon after the whole sits down together to eat and then goes out for a brief recess. We are all excited! KUNG FU PANDA The PTA will be showing the movie, Kung Fu Panda, in the Hooven gym on Tuesday, November 25th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Kelly wanted this to be a privilege that students must earn. Our class is using homeworks (including R.A.H. forms) and behavior to get to go see it. Each student in our class was given five Kung Fu Panda tickets. If they have at least one ticket left by 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25th, THEY ARE THERE! The ways to lose a ticket is by forgetting your homework or R.A.H. form. For each one forgotten, that’s a ticket lost for each time. If someone gets their card flipped for inappropriate behavior, they give me a ticket. I hope each student has ALL five left on the day of the movie! It will be a wonderful way to start off the Thanksgiving break. NO SCHOOL There will be no school on Wednesday, November 26th, due to conference release day. Have a great week! Sincerely, Mrs. Vanderpohl |
