The
Southwest Local School District is currently formulating
a budget for the expenditures of Title VI-B Funds for
2012-2013. These funds are used in providing
educational services for preschool through grade 12
special needs pupils residing within the Southwest Local
School District. Persons wishing to have input
regarding the allocation of these funds should contact
Mr. Carter Cordes at 513-367-4169.

Accomplishments:
*The Harrison Elementary
MOVE IT! club ran/walked over
600 miles after school during the first semester.
*The Junior
School Cheerleaders placed 1st in their competition in
Dayton on Jan. 14.
*Harrison
Junior School
8th grade students, Jenn Galligan & Jeff Grieser, we
selected for the OMEA District 14 Honors Band.
*Art work from Harrison High juniors Meghann Hubbard and
Samantha Scott are displayed for the month of December
at the Bi-annual "Selections " Tri- State high school
art show at Mt St. Joe's " Studio San Giuseppe" art
gallery.
*-- Meghann Hubbard wins a $2,000 scholarship award for
her art drawing at the" Selections" show at Mt. St. Joe.
Her work was recognized by the Fine arts staff at the
Mount.
*-- Four Harrison High Art students compete at the
Design Charrette competition in December @ Mt St. Joe.
against 125 tri-state High school students. Saranda
Posey , Alyssa Crone, Meghann Hubbard, and Lindsey
Draffen compete.
* Lindsey and Meghann's group win 1st PLACE at the
Competition!!
*Miamitown had four students go to the state competition
for the PTA Reflections: Jackie Watkins, Liberty
Cavanaugh, Ariana Burton, and Zoe Roddenberry.

display at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.
*The Harrison Show Choir was invited to perform with the
Southern Gateway Chorus and toured several senior
centers during our Harrison Holiday Outreach Tour.
*Photo I students & Junior School artists held a show of
their works *Capture Resist* at The Coffee Peddlar
*PTA Reflections winners in visual arts & photography.
1st place winners are traveling to the state
competition. High School students Tina Wu, Macie
Alf and Tegan Irwin, Eric Acra and Shelby Klotter
all placed.
*Harrison Junior School and the Hubert Company teamed up
to help over 40 families for the holiday season with
food, clothing, & toys.
*Jenna Wallin won the Harrison Junior School spelling
bee.
*Harrison Junior School MH program and TAG program
volunteered at Matthew 25 Ministries
*The SLSD celebrated our growing Special Olympics program at a Pep
Assembly at the High School.
*HJS art department had 3 pieces of student artwork
selected for the state of Ohio Youth Art Month art
exhibit.
* At Whitewater Valley Elementary, Noah Kathmans was the
Geography Bee winner, Brendan Edwards was the Spelling
Bee winner (2nd year in a row) and 11 Fifth grade girls
completed the Girls On The Run Program with a 5K Race on
Nov. 19th.
WVE Recognized 185 students at our Remke biggs second
quarter perfect attendance breakfast.
* Members of the Diamond Oaks JROTC from Harrison
HS participated in their first Color Guard competition
on 17 December 2011. The All-Harrison team brought back
the Third Place Trophy, the Forth Place team had a
Harrison cadet filling out a position. Great first
showing.

Crosby Fourth Grade Students hosted over 100 guests for
Grandparent’s Day
*The Harrison Cheer Stars won first place at the Harvest
Festival Cheer competition at Fairfield High School.
*Harrison Elementary's Cats Kids News published their
30th issue. 30 students participate in reporting and
writing this 50+ article paper.
*Miamitown hosted an art show for 18 students. 70
people attended the art show
*Winner of the Miamitown Spelling Bee was Brianna
Bailey.
