- The boy's team had a great showing at the Regional Track & Field
meet in Dayton, Ohio with an 11th place team finish and 2 athletes
qualifying to the State meet in three events. The boy's team
finished 4th among Cincinnati area teams and had their best showing at
this meet in years. Chris Littleton led the way for the boys with
a 2nd place finish in the shot put (57' 10.5") and a 4th place finish
in the discus (153' 1"). Curt Weidner broke his own school record
in the 110m high hurdles finishing 3rd with a time of 14.70. Both
Chris and Curt advanced to the State meet. In doing so, Curt
became the first hurdler and only second sprinter (first in the last 50
years) from Harrison to qualify for the State meet. Curt also
qualified for the finals of the 300m hurdles but was pulled because of
a sore hamstring. Sam Knue also scored for the boys with a 7th
place finish in the 1600m run (4:29.01). The 4x800m relay team of
Sam Knue, Eric Ruwe, Josh Huffman, and John McCoy placed 13th
(8:36.01). Great job Boys! To view pictures from the

News from the District Meet - The
boy's pulled off a great showing at the District track meet placing 6th
out of 17 teams. Curt Weidner was a double district Champion
winning both the 110m high hurdles (15.10) and 300m hurdles (40.10).
Chris Littleton also advanced to the Regional meet in 2 events
with a District Championship in the shot put (55' 6.75") and 2nd place
finish in the discus (153' 2"). Sam Knue finished 4th in the
1600m run (4:28.02) and then led the surprising 4x800m relay team to a
berth in the Regional meet. Along with Sam, Eric Ruwe, John
McCoy, and Josh Huffman saved their best performance of the year for
the biggest meet with a 4th place finish (8:22.34). Also placing
at the meet were John McCoy (8th in the 800m run) and Kellen Nixon (8th
in the discus).
The
girls had 2 placers at the District meet. Donna Castelli showed
incredible guts and heart in coming off a 2 week layoff from her
troublesome hamstring injury and competing at the meet. Donna
squeezed into the finals of the 400m dash but the time spent away from
the track with the injury proved to be too much as her great career
came to an end with an unlucky 5th place finish. Megan Koehler
improved upon her District performance of a year ago with a great run and a 6th place
finish in the 1600m run (5:31.08).
